Note: the "Colcord" pasture is the pasture that was closed to grazing by the Forest Service in 1979 and has been referred to as “Colcord Canyon,” “Turkey Pasture,” “Colcord Pasture,” or “Turkey Peak Pasture” in Forest Service documents.
The Driveway includes portions of the Naegelin Rim area where the Forest Service documents show that in the 1970s Elk had disappeared from the area and eventually returned after the Forest Service decreased the number of cattle the Bar X was authorized to graze.
As can be seen from the vegetation map, the Colcord "pasture" consists primarily of Pine trees with limited forage as documented by the Forest Service in the 1970s which was delineated as No Capacity because of steep slopes in conjunction with a lack of forage.
The Forest Service proposes to put a corral between the communities of Ponderosa Springs and Colcord.
